Hockey player receives his sentence after assaulting teammate during practice
Last year Rasmus Ahlholm found himself released from his team in the Norwegian Hockey League. Ahlholm had his contract terminated after he struck a teammate in the head with his stick during practice. Ahlholm was also charged with assault stemming from the incident.
The incident occurred last December and Ahlholm was cut from the Storhamar of GET-ligaen the very next day. Video of the incident is available at the link below.
The injured party was former teammate Jacob Lindell Noer. There was reportedly bad blood between the two men leading up to the incident.
According to AftonBladet , Ahlholm received his sentence last week for the assault. Ahlholm got off lightly only being forced to pay a fine for $1200 US and covering the approximately $500 in court costs.
The court offered some leniency due to the lack of significant injury. The court offered the following in their ruling:
It was fortunate that things weren't much worse.
After the sentence was revealed and Ahlholm found out he'd avoided jail time he immediately signed with Vålerenga of GET-ligaen, who just happens to be the arch rivals of his former team.
I accept the punishment I have received and put it behind me. Of course I regret what I have done. It was tough at first, but I'm looking forward.
Lundell Noer, the player who received the cross check, is still playing for Storhamar. It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of this during their first meeting.
