According to a bombshell report from Elliotte Friedman on today's episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, there is significant trouble brewing among the team - including strong disagreements within the team about the direction of the franchise.

After the firing of Kyle Dubas in an extremely public and detailed fashion, players and fans alike were shocked by the decision considering the record success of the last five years. However, according to Friedman, some players were blunt in their assessment of what was wrong with the team, and are looking to embrace change.

Another camp of players and staff within the team are extremely dissatisfied with the firing of Dubas, notably including Auston Matthews, which a player on the team relayed to Friedman is not likely to re-sign with the team this offseason.

Now without a general manager, the Leafs will entire a franchise defining six week period, with colossal decisions to make around re-tooling their star players and keeping in mind the deadline to trade or sign them, being July 1st. Heading into the next week, the Leafs will begin to take the steps to shake the franchise to the core.
