Lou Lamoirello confirms 18 season NHL veteran won't attend training camp and his career could be over
Lou Lamoirello and the New York Islanders have a reputation for keeping a cone of silence around the team. In years past, the organization has managed to conceal signings until training camp before revealing the details. In the past players have simply shown up at training camp having signed deals that no one was aware of.
This level of secrecy has created a narrative that surrounds the Islanders that makes people believe anything is possible. Over the summer many expected that Zach Parise may have already signed a new contract with the Islanders. Fans expected when training camp opened that Parise would be there.
Today though Lou confirmed that would not be happening.
Lou Lamoriello says Zach Parise will not come to camp with the #Isles. Did not rule out something later in the season but says Parise is home in Minnesota.
While this doesn't confirm this will be the end of his career at 39 years old it is unlikely that there is much gas left in the tank. If this is the end of his career, Parise will go down as one of the best American born players to ever play the game.
