NHL announces its first positive case of COVID-19 of the season
The COVID-19 pandemic reeked havoc on the NHL for over two years. Now as the clock turns and we begin the 2022/24 season the NHL already has their first positive case of this season.
Today the Winnipeg Jets announced that Head Coach, Rick Bowness had tested positive and would not be behind the bench for tonight's game.
PERSONNEL UPDATE: #NHLJets Head Coach Rick Bowness tested positive for COVID this afternoon. As a result, he will not be behind the bench tonight. Associate Coach Scott Arniel will assume head coaching duties in the interim.
The NHL updated their policies last season and continue to only test individuals who show symptoms of the illness. No other member of the team is currently positive for the illness and their game tonight will go on as scheduled against the New York Rangers.
