The National Hockey League has had a problem with officiating for some time now, but it seems as time goes on, the more it declines. Nothing is being done to held horrible officiating accountable either, so why would they change anything? The latest example comes from a game tonight.
With the Florida Panthers at home taking on the Dallas Star, the poor officiating has continued to decline, this time with a Stars player being blatantly high sticked in front of the net; take a look.
Roope Hintz was high sticked by Stenlund but the refs didn't see it so no penalty is called Stars forward Roope Hintz was clearly high sticked by Panthers forward Kevin Stenlund. At this point you don't expect much from NHL officials as a whole, but every time they surprise you.
Gary Bettman while he's grown the NHL as a business clearly could care less about the on ice product. For someone who says they want to grow the game, start by making a penalty a penalty, then maybe the fans would respect you.
