Player sheds a tear on the bench after scoring a very emotional goal
The hockey world came to a stand still after the death of Adam Johnson. The passing of the forward had a ripple effect on the entire hockey community. No player was more impacted by his passing than Winnipeg Jets defender Neal Pionk.
For Neal Pionk, Adam Johnson was more than just a former teammate, he was a best friend. Last week shared how the passing of Johnson has impacted him. At Pionk's wedding, Johnson was a groomsman, so tonight was extremely special.
In the first period Pionk scored his first goal of the season to give the Jets a 2-0 lead.
The goal was clearly an emotional moment for Pionk who returned to the bench where he had an outpouring of emotion.
This beautiful moment goes beyond hockey and will likely go a long way as Pionk looks to heal.
