The NHL announces the winner of the Calder Trophy
Today the NHL announced that Moritz Seider of the Detroit Red Wings, the German defenseman drafted 6th overall in the 1st round in 2019, is the winner of the Calder Trophy.
It seemed that playing in Rögle BK may have been a positive for the Red Wings, as getting named the SHL defenceman of the year, was just the first accolade to his laundry list.

Seider put up 50 points, with 7 goals and 43 assists in 82 games this year in his first NHL season. He had only spent 2019-2020 in the Grand Rapids organization, putting up 22 points with 2 goals and 20 assists in 49 games.
