The Vancouver Canucks and Elias Pettersson seem to be at an impasse, earlier this off-season, it was reported that he, along with other stars around the league were waiting for Auston Matthews to re-sign in Toronto in order to set the market for team superstars before some were willing to re-sign. Now it appears there's more to it than that.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Canucks star will only re-sign if the team starts to have some success, something I'm sure Canucks fans want as well; take a look.
The Canucks have been mired in mediocrity for quite a few years it's no wonder Pettersson is getting frustrated. Since they drafted him, they've been not nearly as good as people thought they were going to be. It seems like stars don't want to play in Vancouver and if they're not careful, they're going to lose a 102 point player.
From the Pettersson side of things this makes sense. You play hockey because you want to win, and wasting a players prime years, barely having, if any at all success is no doubt weighing on him.
