This western conference team is looking to extend a fan favourite
It seems that the Calgary Flames are interested in extending Milan Lucic's contract as per the Fourth Period. Lucic is currently in the last year of his deal that pays him $5.25 million per season. Lucic has turned out to be a big part of the Flames organization.

Although he mostly plays on the teams fourth line, he has proved effective in this role. Lucic is thirty-four years old so you would have to think that Calgary would offer him a short-term contract for less money than he is currently making.
Calgary is looking to compete for the Stanley Cup the next few seasons. Extending an inexpensive veteran forward that the team likes and that some of the fans are fond of seems like a decent move for Calgary. Plus, Lucic seems to be the type of player that head coach Darryl Sutter wants on his team. In seven games this season, Milan Lucic has seven assists.
