Washington Capitals' forward Tom Wilson is known as one of the most physical players in the game, and often that physicality transfers into him crossing the line. But this time it wasn't exactly Wilson's fault. With the Capitals up 3-1 in the 3rd period Wilson caught Cam Atkinson with a hard hit against the boards. Unfortunately before Wilson landed the hit Atkinson at the last minute leaving himself in a vulnerable position.

Wilson to his surprise was awarded a penalty for boarding on the play and Atkinson was forced to leave the game. Wilson who is most effective when he's playing a physical brand of hockey, has served multiple lengthy suspensions in his career.

It is likely NHL Player Safety will at least look at this play, but in our opinion this hit was a result of Atkinson's decision and not Wilson's play and it shouldn't result in any discipline.

The Capitals would go on to embarrass the Flyers by a score of 9-2.
