Update on Carolina Hurricanes announcer who disappeared after sending a cryptic tweet about 'drinking problem'
Tripp Tracy is a well known member of the Carolina Hurricanes, who covers the games for Bally Sports. Unfortunately yesterday Tripp drew a ton of concern yesterday from the entire Carolina Hurricanes' fan base as the beloved announcer sent out a very cryptic tweet before disappearing. The first tweet which was sent two hours before game time simply said:
I have a drinking problem.I am oj'i at the moment and want to thank all of the huge Caniacs
Concern only grew when Tracy did not show up for the broadcast and was nowhere to be found. Tracy eventually sent out a second tweet during the game confirming that he was alright.
Today both Tracy and the Hurricanes have commented on the situation. This morning Tracy sent out the following apology via his Twitter account.
am disgusted with myself that on the night @canes win the Metro Division that I was an extremely unimpressive distraction. I accept and know the steps I need to take to deal with this problem. Thank you to all Huge Caniacs for being so incredibly supportive.
The Carolina Hurricanes President and General Manager, Don Waddell also issued a statement this afternoon about this situation:
Tripp is going to take some time away from the team and the broadcast to address a personal matter. We are in full support of his efforts to get healthy and ask that everyone please respect his privacy in this matter.
We all hope that Tripp Tracy gets the help he needs during this time and his successful in this battle.
