This season has not gone according to plan for the Vegas Golden Knights. The team has found themselves often decimated by injuries, but now it appears one key injury might be a blessing in disguise. Especially now that the team is utilizing long-term injured reserve space.
According to Cap Friendly, the Vegas Golden Knights have placed captain Mark Stone on long term injured reserve opening up a significant amount of cap relief. Take a look:
Stone, 30, has played in 43 games for the Golden Knights this season scoring 17 goals and adding 21 assists for 38 points. He hasn't played since January 12th as he's been dealing with a reoccurring back issue.
With the new found cap space going into the trade deadline on March 3rd, Vegas now has the flexibility to nearly add almost anyone they wish on the market today. This opens a path for both Patrick Kane or Timo Meier to be on Vegas' trade radar, something that wasn't possible before.
Look for Vegas to be extremely active as they look to avoid missing the playoffs once again this season.
