A key component of the Capitals' roster, Wilson is nearly as famous for his physical, in-your-face playing style as he is for being capable of getting inside the head of every player on the ice. This postseason has been no exception.
Just a couple of weeks ago, he had everyone talking when he baited the Montreal Canadiens with a crybaby routine.
On Monday, during Game 4 of the Washington Capitals' loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, Wilson was at it again and gave us a moment of comic relief with a humorous stunt directly aimed at the opposing team.
Wilson tried to sell a penalty in Game 4 while laughing about it
After a scrap with veteran
Jordan Staal, the two went off the ice, but Wilson wasn't done. Wilson taunted Staal with an over-the-top action, tossing his head back as if trying to sell a penalty, all while laughing.
And to top it all off,
Wilson mimicked the Hurricanes' signature "Storm Surge" celebration, where players clap in a circle after a victory.
Video of his antics quickly went viral, and fans both laughed and considered him cheeky. But the Hurricanes had the last laugh. Not only did they win 5-2 to take a 3-1 lead in the series, but they trolled Wilson by sharing the video on social media.
With the Capitals unable to lose another game in this series, perhaps Wilson will tone down his antics and focus on playing the game of hockey instead to help his team.
