Since the Toronto Maple Leafs season ended, rumors have swirled that the Maple Leafs will move on from one member of their core. Most reports have linked veteran forward. Mitch Marner as the most likely player to move. However, what was seen today could go a very long way to shutdown some of these trade rumors.
Today Marner was spotted having coffee with brand new Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube. It is expected that the two spoke about Marner's potential usage next season in the Maple Leafs system.
Right now it sounds like the Maple Leafs wanted to split up rest the Core Four it still feels like the most likely way that will happen is by the departure of Captain John Tavares next season. Tavares has one season remaining on his contract and would be a good candidate to move on clearing over $11 million in cap space.
It will be interesting to see wh radius at the Maple Leafs choose to do despite all of these reports.
