During an intermission report recently, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman was speaking on the Bruins goaltending situation and briefly mentioned the Ottawa Senators before correcting himself.
It's no secret that Ottawa needs some help between the pipes, even with the addition of Joonas Korpisalo during the offseason. The 29-year-old, who many believed would offer some relief to the Senator's back end, has thirteen wins in forty-one appearances, with an inflated 3.39 goals against average and a subpar.887 save percentage.
Conversely, if the Senators were to add Ullmark, his numbers would be drastically different and could automatically make the Senators better, even if just a little. In 32 games this season, Ullmark holds a 17-7-7 record alongside a.900 SV% and a.913 GAA. Whatever decisions are to be made in the nation's capital, Steve Staois and his brass appear to have an awful lot of work ahead of them to make sure the Senators can return to a level of respectability not seen since at least the 20162017 season or beforehand.
