Ron MacLean provides update on his relationship with Don Cherry after fallout
When Don Cherry was fired by Roger Sportsnet after an on-air comment, many expected good friend Ron MacLean to follow. In their past, Cherry had put his own job on the line to save that of his friend. MacLean, however, would not follow suit and instead remained in his role on Hockey Night in Canada.
The now infamous "you people" comment that led to Cherry's termination, ultimately led to the fall apart of the two men's long-standing friendship. After years of being kept at a distance, it now appears that the two friends are once again on positive terms. At least according to a photo recently posted by MacLean on his social media accounts.
Us, when Grapes hit a Milestone and I was chasing one, so, recently. Canadians. Us like us - forever
Despite rumors of a rift remaining between the two, it appears that recently Ron was able to attend the birthday of his old friend, Don. This is surprising given some Cherry's previous comments, but it is good to see that Don was somehow able to forgive the man who turned his back on him.
Don can still be heard regularly on his Grapevine Podcast, while MacLean remains the host of Hockey Night in Canada.
