Last night's Edmonton Oilers versus Vegas Golden Knights game got extremely heated in the latter stages. In the final minute Edmonton Oiler's defenseman Darnell Nurse dropped the gloves with Nic Hague.

On the play the officials deemed Nurse the aggressor and issued him an instigator penalty. That instigator according to the NHL rule book was accompanied by an automatic one game suspension. However, the NHL Department of Player Safety has the option to void that instigator penalty, something today they decided NOT to do.

Edmonton's Darnell Nurse has been automatically suspended for one game and Coach Jay Woodcroft has been fined $10,000 under rule 46.21, Instigating in Final Five Minutes of Regulation.

This means that Nurse will miss Game 5. The defender is a huge part of the Oilers d-core eating heavy minutes. Along with the suspension, Oilers' Head Coach Jay Woodcroft has received a mandatory $10,000 fine.
