Coming into this season, expectations were high for the Toronto Maple Leafs. They added more grit in more than one area and adding some more offence on the back end as well. Unfortunately so far this season they've been anything but good and it seems with each passing game they're only getting worse.
With that being said, General Manager Brad Treliving could be looking to make a splash on the trade market by acquiring a top 4 defenceman according to NHL insider Kevin Weekes; take a look.
"I know for a fact from speaking to someone close to it that the Leafs are one of four teams that have inquired about Zadorov."
@KevinWeekes on whether it is too early for the NHL trade market to start heating up and the #LeafsForever inquiring on Nikiita Zadorov.
Zadorov, 28, is a stay at home defender with a stabilizing presence on the blue line. In 11 games this season with the Calgary Flames he has 4 assists.
Not only does Treliving have an existing relationship with the Flames if he wants to make the Leafs tougher to play against, this would be a step in that direction.
We'll see if this actually gains any traction, but Zadorov would start to turn the Leafs defence around.
