Video Emerges of Paul Bissonnette's Amazing Reaction to Brad Marchand Being Traded
A video of Paul Bissonnette's reaction to Brad Marchand's trade to the Florida Panthers emerged online.
The Boston Bruins sent shockwaves through the NHL by trading their captain, Brad Marchand. Despite many rumors suggesting he'd switch teams this season due to his contractual situation, the hockey community is still processing this massive change.
Upon hearing the news, people affected by the trade had different reactions.
Among them, Paul Bissonnette, the former NHLer, co-host of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, and TNT broadcaster, was in shock.
Watch his live reaction to the trade between the Panthers and the Bruins involving Marchand in the video below:
"Holy! I said get out of the East, Brad! I said get out of the East!"
Bissonnette and Marchand share great chemistry due to their multiple viral exchanges on live TV:
Unlike Bissonnette, the Panthers players were thrilled. Many players commented on Marchand's arrival, including former Bruins A.J. Greer and captain Aleksander Barkov:
"Everyone is excited-he is an amazing person and a great player who brings out the best in everyone every day. He is a competitor, and whether it is in practice or in games, he always seems to elevate everyone around him.
He is going to complement this group really well. He is one of my really good friends, and I just can't wait to hug him and joke around with him. Such an awesome guy to have day-in and day-out." - A.J. Greer
"He is a winner, he won the Stanley Cup with Boston (in 2011) and has been a part of great teams every year. Everyone knows what kind of player and human he is.
I am excited to have him on my side for once." - Aleksander Barkov
Panthers' head coach Paul Maurice also shared his thoughts on Marchand's acquisition, saying it was surprising news to hear but he is excited about the player's arrival.
He also provided details on Marchand's injury, the former Bruins captain's rivalry with the Panthers, and the locker room connections that will need to be made to succeed in the playoffs:
"It's exciting, and a bit of a surprise for the coaches anyway. We're very excited about the idea."
"He will come in here, and we'll get our doctors to look at him to understand what the injury is."
"Brad Marchand comes in here, and there's a history with the Florida Panthers. But there's a great history because he, Sam Bennett, and Sam Reinhart played on a team together that had great success."
"There's an instant connection in our room when he comes in. I think those connections are vital when you start the playoffs." - Paul Maurice In 61 games this season, Marchand tallied 47 points, including 21 goals. He won't make his Panthers debut right away as he recovers from an injury sustained on March 1st in a game against the Penguins.
