Bruins captain Brad Marchand is officially on his way to the divisional foe and defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, and Boston isn't getting very much in return.
Brad Marchand, who has been with the Bruins since his rookie year of 2010-11 and was named the official successor to Patrice Bergeron as captain in 2023, was traded to the divisional foe Florida Panthers.
Not only are the Panthers the defending Stanley Cup champions, but they've also eliminated the Bruins from the postseason in each of the last 2 years.
While there wasn't much information available at the time of the trade on what the Bruins would be getting back from Florida in return for Marchand, there's now a clearer picture.
Per Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now, the Bruins are getting a conditional 2nd round pick in 2027.
Apologies if it has already been reported, but I'm hearing that the Bruins are getting a conditional 2027 2nd rd pick that can become a 1st in 2028 for Brad Marchand from (Panthers).
Trying to confirm the conditions. First reaction: Not nearly enough for the Bruins
If this is all that the Bruins could get back in return for Marchand, Boston fans have every right to feel upset.
Brad Marchand's time with the Bruins has ended
Marchand, who was a rookie when the Bruins last won the Stanley Cup in 2011, has played his entire NHL career with the club and also helped them to a pair of additions appearances in the Stanley Cup Final.
He's played in 1,090 career games with 976 points (422 goals, 554 assists) along with 138 points (56G, 82A) in 157 career playoff games.
