Jim Montgomery, head coach of the Boston Bruins, was involved in a hilarious sequence in game 5 against the Florida Panthers while trying to call a dive.
Emotions are high tonight as the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers compete in game 5 of their second round 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs series. A loss for Boston means an exit from the postseason, and head coach Jim Montgomery is doing all he can to make sure that doesn't happen.
In the second half of the second period, Mason Lohrei took a two-minute penalty for hooking. Montgomery firmly believes the member of the Florida Panthers made the play look far worse than it was. He was very animated while trying to explain to the officials.
As you likely expected, it didn't work, and Lohrei served the two minutes anyway. In that case, no harm was done.
It seems that the Boston Bruins are unravelling despite leading 2-1 heading into the 3rd period of the game. In an elimination game, the players take after the coaches, if Montgomery can't control his reactions, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the team
