Nearly two weeks after losing forward Adam Ruzicka on waivers to the Arizona Coyotes, the Calgary Flames have decided to claim a defenceman off the wire.

According to Chris Johnston of TSN, the Calgary Flames have claimed 24-year-old defenceman Brayden Pachal off waivers from the Vegas Golden Knights.

"Calgary claims Brayden Pachal off waivers from Vegas." Johnston said.

The Estavan, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 17 games for the Golden Knights where he has one goal, 12 penalty minutes and is a minus-two. Despite only playing ten regular season games and one playoff game last season, the Golden Knights requested that Pachal's name be engraved on the Stanley Cup following their win in June.

In other related news, Ivan Prosvetov, goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche, has cleared waivers and will be assigned to the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles. In 11 games this season for the Colorado Avalanche, he has a record of 4-3-1 with a 3.16 goals against average and an .895 save percentage.
