Miro Heiskanen has been out for quite some time, and while there's hope he can return soon, the Dallas Stars confirm he'll miss game one of the post-season.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are right around the corner, and already we know some key matchups, with the most exciting of all confirmed as the Dallas Stars will do battle with their fierce division rival the Colorado Avalanche.
Unfortunately for Dallas, their worst fears have now been confirmed, as the team have made it official that Miro Heiskanen will miss game one of this highly anticipated series.
In positive news however, the team remain hopeful that they could get their star defenseman back at some point during the series, and if they can get past round one, that confidence grows that his return becomes possible.
In his absence, the Stars blue line is certainly one of the weakest in the Western Conference, but with such a loaded forward group, the hope is that they can keep them in it long enough until Heiskanen makes his eventual return.
Over the past two years, Heiskanen has played in a total of 38 playoff games (19 in each year), and in that time he's posted 7 goals and 28 points, and given the star power of
Cale Makar and
Devon Toews on the opposing blue line, that's the type of production that Dallas desperately need in their lineup.
Only time will tell how quick the superstar blue liner can get back and if Dallas can survive that long, but in a series that has so many overarching stories, this is one of the most intriguing to keep an eye on as this one could become a bloodbath between two loaded Central Division squads.
