Major injury update on Roope Hintz as Dallas Stars prepare for new season
The Dallas Stars are set to open training camp with a much healthier roster, and that includes a key update on star centre Roope Hintz.
After battling through a painful broken foot in last year's playoffs, the Finnish forward confirmed on Friday that he is back to full strength and ready for the grind of the 2025-26 season.
Speaking at the NHL's European media tour in Milan, Hintz gave fans the reassurance they were hoping for.
«I'm feeling good. My foot is fine and I've been able to train normally this summer. So everything is good,» he told NHL.com.
For a player who anchors Dallas' top line, it's a promising sign as the Stars push to get back to the Western Conference Final for the fourth straight year.
Hintz originally suffered the injury in Game 2 against the Edmonton Oilers during the Western Conference Final.
A slash from
Darnell Nurse sidelined him for Game 3, but Hintz returned for the final two matchups of the series. In typical fashion, he still made his presence felt, scoring in the decisive Game 5 while skating nearly 17 minutes per game.
Roope Hintz's recovery boosts Dallas Stars' hopes for another Stanley Cup run
The best news for Dallas is that the 28-year-old centre avoided surgery this summer. Instead, he rested and trained normally, setting him up for a strong start in September.
«It's always hard if you get injured at that time of the year, but you just try to find ways to get back on the ice as quick as possible. We found a good solution there and I was able to play, and I felt like normal.»
Last season, Hintz tallied 28 goals and 39 assists for 67 points in 76 games, thriving alongside
Jason Robertson and new linemate
Mikko Rantanen.
His role as the driving force down the middle makes him one of the most important pieces in Dallas' pursuit of the Stanley Cup.
I think this update couldn't have come at a better time for the Stars, because having Hintz fully healthy might be the difference between another deep run and falling short.
For a team stacked with talent, stability at centre is what keeps them dangerous.
