The Leafs have plans to hike ticket prices by a staggering 20% next season, and one former NHL star went absolutely beast mode on the team and slammed them.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are raising ticket prices next year, with some tickets going up by as much as 20% in certain sections. The team is doing it to maintain pace with inflation, but as 'The Athletic' reported, the decision has been criticized by fans.
Perhaps no one was more critical of the impact on long-time fans than former NHL player Jay Rosehill on the March 19 episode of the 'Leafs Nation' podcast.
Rosehill has criticized the move, saying that numerous die-hard fans will be priced out of their long-standing season tickets.
"This is like, people's, a lot of people's lives, a lot of people's passion, it's like what they do. It's their thing. And, these tickets have been in people's families for generations oftentimes. And, you're doing everything you can to hold on to them, and you picture going with your kids and going with your grandkids and you know, having something that special, and then it gets taken away from you."

"Imagine the d*ckh*ead that comes up in your place to take them with his dress shirt about to burst oh come on, man, pushing the real fan out is tough."

- Jay Rosehill

Price increases are in the thousands of dollars

His words are a sign of increasing outrage at so-called corporate greed, which is also driving more regular fans away from the matches.
'The Athletic' placed the hikes in perspective. At Scotiabank Arena's purple level, season tickets rose to $10,396 from $8,522. Customers are also being requested for a full playoff ticket package payment upfront, some $14,360 in the purple area.
If the team doesn't advance more than four playoff rounds, unused tickets will be credited over to the following season.
The gold section saw an even more substantial increase, rising by $2,000 to a record $28,240 for a season ticket. Playoff tickets in the section were available for sale at $36,152, which means a Stanley Cup Final seat could cost as much as $2,000
With these stratospheric ticket prices, it's becoming less than realistic for home game fans. As the public continues to seethe, the team doesn't appear to be in the mood for a re-think, particularly as they seem to continue to regard tickets as "undervalued."
