The Edmonton Oilers were without their two biggest stars on Saturday night, but thankfully, Elliotte Friedman has revealed that neither should be out long-term.
Both players missed the Oilers victory over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night, and on Sportsnet, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman gave a very positive update on their situation.
«Well, the word at this point in time is that there are no worries that these are long-term ailments that will threaten their playoff availability in any way."
Thankfully, he revealed that there's no worry in Edmonton that this could be a long-term injury, and for their chances to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals, there's no worry that either will miss any time in the post-season.
One specific detail that Friedman gave however was that Draisaitl is expected back before McDavid, and although both should be back before the Stanley Cup Playoffs, all indications are that 29's recover is going to be a little quicker than 97's.
"Now, as of today, it appears likely that Leon Draisaitl's timeline is ahead of Connor McDavid's, and the belief is that Draisaitl may return before McDavid. But I have been warned that McDavid has blown past injury timelines before."
Either way, this is incredibly positive news for Edmonton fans, as they saw both of their top stars and Stuart Skinner go down within a 24-hour period, but with none expected to miss significant time, their chances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs remain incredibly high.
