Lindros also knows a thing or two about being traded after refusing to play for a team. He was picked first overall by the Quebec Nordiques in 1991 despite signaling he wouldn't sign with the team, which was the catalyst for his trade to Philadelphia. Cutter Gautheir recently did the same to Philadelphia, and was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Jamie Drysdale. Lindros said the team never should have let Gautheir's trade request be made public.
Lindros insisted Philadelphia is a great place to play, but didn't blame Gauthier at all for his trade demand.
Gautheir's refusal to play for the Philadelphia Flyers landed him and his family death threats, something that never should have happened, regardless of the way fans felt. Again, Lindros stressed that's on the Flyers.
