After a couple of week of speculation, it seems the deal is done. According to reports out of Pittsburgh, the Penguins have reached a deal with Kyle Dubas.
According to Mark Madden of 105.9 in Pittsburgh, all that's left is the official announcement, which he says will be made shortly.
What we don't know yet is whether Dubas will be the team's General Manager or President of Hockey Operations. Previously, Ron Hextall and Brian Burke filled those roles for the Penguins. There are rumours that one of the reasons for Dubas's departure from the Toronto Maple Leafs is that he wanted more autonomy from Leafs' President Brendan Shanahan. If that is the case, it seems doubtful he would go to Pittsburgh as GM only for someone else to once again have the final say.
Before he parted ways with the team following their second round playoff loss, Dubas told reporters that it was Toronto next year or nowhere. However, opportunity has a way of changing minds.
