Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz has been injured for over a month with no end in sight, but his family did just get some life-changing news.
Anthony Stolarz is dealing with a nagging injury that doesn't seem to be improving. He has been out for over a month, and we still do not know the problem.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has been adamant that this is not a concussion and that the goaltender will be visiting a specialist in short order.
Today, prior to the team's game against the Nashville Predators, Berube reiterated that Stolarz will see the specialist in short order.
However, he made a surprising announcement on behalf of Stolarz that is actually quite life-changing. The goaltender just had a child with his partner.
This was not something that the media or the fans knew about, so this announcement from Berube certainly comes as a surprise.
That said, it is most certainly a joyous announcement, as having a child can be a wonderful moment in a young mother and father's life.
Anthony Stolarz remains out with an injury
On the injury front, the Stolarz situation remains one of the biggest mysteries of the season so far, and fans are very confused.
An upper-body injury can be anything. It could be his chest, abdomen, shoulders, neck, or head. However, the lack of concussions rules out the latter.
One has to wonder what is going on with the netminder, and the speculation won't stop until the team comes out with a concrete diagnosis.
Until then, we do wish Stolarz and his family all the best with their new child.
