Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll went down with an injury on Thursday night, and it has left players like Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies reeling.

Last night was a mixed bag for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It started off well as the Leafs won against the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 5-1, making it three wins in a row.
Unfortunately, things went down the drain due to Joseph Woll's lower-body injury. He left the game in the second period and was unable to return.
Head coach Craig Berube revealed after the game that Woll's injury status remains up in the air. No one knows how long he will be out for, and this puts the Leafs in a bad situation.

Joseph Woll injury leaves Maple Leafs teammates heartbroken

After the game, some of Woll's teammates spoke out about the injury, and as you can imagine, they are upset about what they saw.
Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews was particularly hurt by the injury, noting just how much work Woll has been putting into his game and body.
You never want to see that. We're all hoping it's nothing too serious. He's somebody that looks after himself extremely well, puts a lot into his craft. So, we're obviously hoping for all the best there.
Matthew Knies had similar sentiments, revealing how Woll has been carrying the team throughout their recent road trip, in which they got themselves out of the depths of the conference.
Yeah, it sucks. Obviously, he's kind of been the backbone of our team for this road trip, carrying us through it all. And you don't want to see him go down like that.

Things just got a whole lot more difficult for the Maple Leafs, and we can only imagine what general manager Brad Treliving must be thinking given his roster's injuries.
If Woll is out for a while, then they may have no choice but to go out and make a trade.
