Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is clearly a man of the people, as he was seen at a local outdoor rink on Friday, spending time with fans.

On Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs were in Philadelphia for a game against the Flyers. On Friday, they traveled back to Toronto to prepare for Hockey Night in Canada against the Vancouver Canucks.
Auston Matthews has been feeling good these days. He just surpassed Mats Sundin for the most goals in Maple Leafs history, and he is currently on a heater.
The team is playing well, and the vibes in the city are exceptionally high right now, which is something that you love to see as a fan.
In fact, Matthews is doing so well right now that he opted to make a rare public appearance at an outdoor rink in Toronto on Friday.

Auston Matthews shows up at Greenwood Rink

According to Elaine C Gauthier on Facebook, Matthews was seen skating around Greenwood Rink across from Greenwood Park.
Fans spotted him and went over to take pictures. He gratiously obliged and didn't seem bothered by the wave of attention that came his way.
It was a very cool gesture from the captain, who very clearly wants to be with the people right now, and do regular things in the middle of a season.

The Maple Leafs continue to play some spirited hockey, and with the Canucks coming up tonight, they will be motivated to pull out a win.
In fact, with the team just one point away from a Wild Card spot, it feels like the Maple Leafs are on the precipice of going on a nice run here.
It's not going to come easy, but the Maple Leafs are certainly doing all of the right things right now.
