The Spengler Cup is coming up very soon, and the infamous HC Davos is going to be employing a former Toronto Maple Leafs forward who was a fan favorite.

This week, the World Juniors will debut on Boxing Day, and fans are gearing up to watch these games in front of their TVs, surrounded by friends and family.
However, there is another big hockey tournament that takes place around the same time. Of course, we are talking about the Spengler Cup, which sees Team Canada take on various club teams in Europe.
HC Davos is the team that typically gets all of the attention, and as it turns out, they are giving Toronto Maple Leafs fans a reason to watch this season.

Leo Komarov expected to play in the Spengler Cup

According to a new report, former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov is getting a professional tryout with HC Davos and will be with the team in time for the tournament.
The 38-year-old Komarov was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in 2006 but only played his first season with the team all the way back in 2012. He stayed with the team until 2018 before going to the New York Islanders.
Since that time, he has spent some time in the KHL, as well as the Swedish and Finnish professional leagues. Needless to say, he is a journeyman.
The Estonian is also a Finnish National, and has played for Finland at the Olympics, which is a pretty cool accomplishment if you ask us.
This latest endeavor into the Spengler Cup is going to be a lot of fun, and if you were a fan of Komarov during his days with the Maple Leafs, you should absolutely tap into this tournament.
Overall, the Spengler Cup is high-quality hockey, and sometimes, you even get to see some former NHLers, which makes the experience worth it.
Only time will tell whether or not Komarov is able to stay with HC Davos for the rest of the season.
