Ex-Maple Leafs forward signs two-year extension with the Boston Bruins

The Toronto Maple Leafs have two former prospects on the Boston Bruins right now, and there is no denying that a recent contract extension has them feeling regret.
Last season, fans were begging the Toronto Maple Leafs to give Alex Steeves an opportunity. After all, he broke the record for most goals in Toronto Marlies history.
In the end, Steeves got just seven games with the team, and there were some fans who were not happy about this, and rightfully so.
Clearly, Steeves was not happy either, as he decided to take his talents to the Boston Bruins once he became a free agent.
This season, Steeves has played 33 games with the Bruins and has 14 points, including eight goals and six assists.
Bruins sign Alex Steeves
The Bruins have been happy with the forward's performance, and on Wednesday, they decided to reward him with a new contract.
Steeves was signed to a two-year contract extension worth $1.625 million per season. This is a great contract for the young forward, who now gets some NHL stability.
Some felt as though Steeves deserved to stay in the NHL for the time being, as he has yet to show any reason to demote him.
For the Leafs, this is yet another example of what could have been for them. Steeves could be in their bottom-six, lighting the lamp.
Now, he plays for a rival team, and every single night, he has the motivation of trying to prove the Maple Leafs wrong.
It's been a rough one for the Leafs this season, and with the Bruins making the Wild Card playoff hunt that much more difficult, this Steeves news is going to sting.
Only time will tell whether or not the Steeves can continue to be a solid player at the NHL level.
