John Tavares Gets Serious About Mitch Marner's Handling of His Contract Negotiations

Overall, Mitch Marner's contract extension is something that a lot of Toronto Maple Leafs fans are concerned about right now and for very good reason.

The forward is refusing to negotiate with the team until after the season which could very well hurt his case if he has a bad run in the postseason.

On the flip side of this, Marner could end up getting a lot of money if he plays well although if the Leafs feel like they cannot afford him, the winger could decide to walk elsewhere.

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Tavares was asked about the Mitch Marner contract negotiations and whether or not he felt as though the Leafs winger was handling it well.

The veteran was very diplomatic about this, noting that the winger's methods of handling this situation are indicative of a guy who just wants to block out the noise to the best of his ability.

This is a big headache for the team and it comes in the midst of what could potentially be a massive playoff run.

Tonight, the Leafs are going up against a powerhouse in the Colorado Avalanche and if this squad doesn't get the win, then their chances of winning the Atlantic Division go down significantly.
