Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander missed practice on Thursday due to maintenance, and the expectation was that he would play against the Washington Capitals.

At 5 PM EST, the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing against the Washington Capitals in what is going to be an extremely important game for this Maple Leafs team.
Unfortunately, it appears as though things are going to be tougher than expected. We say this because it is being reported that William Nylander is out tonight with an illness.
On Thursday, he missed practice due to maintenance, but this was not supposed to get in the way of his playing status. In the end, he will watch from the press box.
As a result of William Nylander's absence, Dakota Joshua will be back in the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup after being a healthy scratch two nights ago.
It still remains to be seen who comes out of the lineup. It could either be Matias Maccelli or Max Domi, although fans certainly hope it is Domi.
The starting goalie for the game is going to be none other than Joseph Woll, who is coming off a huge performance against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals

The Capitals are a good team, and as a result, the Leafs needed to be at full strength. But with numerous defenseman and Nylander out, this game is going to be a tough one.
As it stands, the Leafs are seventh in the Atlantic Division with a record of 10-10-3. If they can win a few games, they will make their way into a playoff spot.
For now, the team needs to take a one game at a time approach, and a win against the Capitals would do a lot for morale.
Tomorrow, the Leafs will be back in action against the Pittsburgh Penguins, one of the more surprising teams of the year so far.
