Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has been having a solid season with the team, but after the Yegor Chinakhov trade, the Leafs may have to look at their options.

Nick Robertson is a player who is finally coming into his own with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he improves with every game.
He has 19 points in 37 games, and if one thing is certain, it is that he is playing some inspired hockey right now. This is especially true whenever he gets to play on the top two lines.
Having said that, Robertson only has one year on his deal, and he would be a solid rental for a team in need. The Leafs have kicked tires on trading him in the past, and there is definitely a market for him.
This past week, the Columbus Blue Jackets traded Yegor Chinakhov to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and it seems to have set the market for Robertson.

How much could the Maple Leafs get for Nick Robertson?

The return for Chinakhov was Danton Heinen, a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick. According to Nick Alberga, this could be the base for a Robertson trade.
Quite frankly, the Leafs should get more for Robertson considering the fact that he has three times as many points as Chinakhov.
It appears as though teams are ready to overpay for talent right now, which could be a huge benefit for the Leafs if they decide to sell off assets.

Are the Maple Leafs buyers or sellers?

Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has made it clear that he wants his team to buy and compete. However, they are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division, and if they don't turn things around, they will turn into sellers by early March.
The Leafs cannot force a strategy if their record simply doesn't allow for it. It's the sad reality, but it is absolutely the truth of the matter.
Whether or not Robertson finishes the season with the Leafs is likely going to hinge on whether or not this team can turn it around, and get themselves to at least a Wild Card spot.
