Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly exited the game against the Vancouver Canucks in the second period, and will not be returning.
Morgan Rielly has had his fair share of struggles with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, although injuries have mostly been avoidable.
Unfortunately, that was not the case tonight as the Leafs took on the Vancouver Canucks. The score is 2-1 Vancouver in the third period.
In the second period, Rielly went down with an upper-body injury, and it didn't look very good. Unfortunately, it has led to his exit from the game.
Moments ago, the team announced that Rielly will not be back tonight as the Leafs try to make a comeback in the third period.
This is yet another piece of bad news for the Maple Leafs, who continue to be inconvenienced by injuries on the back end.
Morgan Rielly's future in Toronto
Morgan Rielly is already being questioned by insiders, who believe that it might be time for the Maple Leafs to get rid of the defenseman.
David Pagnotta suggests the team is going to have conversations with him soon.
I think Morgan Rielly might be the guy that they're gonna have to have a serious conversation...whether or not he would explore alternative options; it may not be ahead of this trade deadline
This is a developing story, and we will be sure to keep tabs on the state of Rielly's health.
If one thing is for certain, the Leafs are going to continue to be hampered by injuries, and it's not going to be a good time.
