Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews had a special moment this weekend, and it seems as though the Leafs have an announcement that goes with it.
In case you didn't notice, Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews became the franchise's all-time leading scorer on Saturday night.
He scored two goals against the New York Islanders, which allowed Matthews to surpass Mats Sundin, with 421 career goals.
It was a spectacular achievement for the captain, and one that is going to be remembered for generations to come, and for very good reason.
Overall, Matthews is a phenomenal talent, and now that he is finding his game, there is hope that he can carry the Leafs to a playoff spot.
Auston Matthews to get his flowers
Interestingly enough, on Tuesday, the Maple Leafs are playing the Florida Panthers, and to celebrate, the team is going to give Auston Matthews his flowers.
According to reports, there is going to be a special moment before the game to immortalize Matthews' big achievement.
The home crowd is going to be there to witness it, and it should be a very special moment for a very special player.
It will be that much more special if the Maple Leafs are able to get themselves a win against the Florida Panthers, who have become a huge rival as of late.
If Matthews can increase his franchise lead, then the fans are certainly going to appreciate that kind of effort, especially on a night like tonight.
Whether or not Auston is able to pull it off is something that still very much remains to be seen.
