Sometimes fights are used to send a message even if your team is losing the game. It shows one of two things, that the losing team isn't going to go down without showing you why they deserve respect and it sends a message the next time the two teams meet.
The Montreal Canadiens took on the Florida Panthers tonight at home and it was not their night by any means. Late in the 3rd period that didn't stop Josh Anderson and Jonah Gadjovich from dropping the gloves for a spirited tilt; take a look.
These two can definitely throw down and Anderson got the better of the shots in there and had way more volume as well, but Gadjovich held his own landing a few shots of his own before the two ran out of energy.
Anyone who says fighting doesn't belong in hockey doesn't know the adrenaline and lift that goes through both teams after the fight is finished. Anderson may not be be having the best season, but it's things like this, his willingness to throw down that make his teammates love him.
