Anders Lee scores a goal off of the goalie's junk
It's not everyday when you see something new happen in the NHL, but tonight that's exactly what happened. During tonight's game between the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins, Anders Lee scored a goal in a very awkward way.
In the 1st period of the game Anders Lee was able to score a goal to tie the game at 1. But what made this goal unique was he scored it off of the crotch of Casey DeSmith. As the puck bounces up in the air it comes to rest on DeSmith's groin. While most players don't seem to know what to do, Anders Lee goes to work.
Lee is finally able to bat the puck off of DeSmith and into the net.
The Pittsburgh players seems to be caught guard on the play, but credit to Lee for playing until the whistle. I'm sure if this ever happens again the Pens will be ready for it.
