Linesman learns why you don't jump into a scrum without help
Linesmen have a tough job, it's their responsibility to break up fights and scraps. But one of the things they're taught almost immediately is to make sure you have help before intervening or at least make sure it's safe to do so. One linesman learned why last night in Los Angeles.
In last night's game the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings played another edition of the Battle of California. This game only mattered in the standings to one team, but it was hard to tell by watching. A scrum broke out with less than six seconds left in the game and our over eager linesman tried to break it up. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way and be ended up being dumped hard in his right arm.
Josh Mahura and Arthur Kaliyev both received roughing minors while Kaliyev also received a game misconduct on the play.
