This gesture is an interesting case, because unlike most supplemental discipline this incident bypasses NHL Player Safety and is immediately handled by NHL Hockey Operations. NHL Hockey Ops didn't waste anytime issuing Hartman his punishment.
A $4,250 fine to flip off Evander Kane is something that likely won't bother Hartman and has likely generated far more revenue through media attention for both the Minnesota Wild and the NHL.
Ryan Hartman was asked about a potential fine last night and simply replied, "it'll be well worth it."
I'm sure Hartman still feels that way this morning.
