With the Detroit Red Wings trying to stay alive in the Wild Card race, General Manager, Steve Yzerman has made a very difficult decision. According to sources Yzerman has decided that talented Czech forward Jakob Vrana can no longer help the team at this time.
Fourth Periods' David Pagnotta reports that the Red Wings have no plans to call up the winger. Detroit is looking to move Vrana one way or another, this off-season, whether that means trade or buyout.
Vrana checked into the NHL/NHLPA's Player Assistance Program in October and was sent down to the AHL upon his return. He has produced pretty consistently scoring six goals and nine points in fifteen games. The 26 year old has one more year on his deal after this one at a cap hit of $5,250,000.
