Hockey is a physical game and as such, there's a lot of wear and tear on player's bodies. Sometimes, not getting something looked at causes more problems in the future as you try to play through it. As is the case with Toronto Maple Leaf defender Jake Muzzin.
Now, it appears the Leafs are set to provide an update on the veteran defenceman as per TSN's Darren Dreger, take a look:
Muzzin, 34, only played in 4 games for the Leafs this season before being placed on LTIR, collecting 1 assist. This announcement coming right before the trade deadline could mean the Leafs can finally use the cap space provided by Muzzin's injury. After Dreger's tweet there was some theories that the Maple Leafs could use their cap space and have Jake Muzzin return for the playoffs, similar to Nikita Kucherov previously did in Tampa Bay.
Muzzin not being able to return this season, all but likely means the defender's career is officially over. It's unfortunate that his career had to end this way, if this is, in fact the end.
