Gaudreau Family releases statement following passing of Johnny & Matthew
The Gaudreau family has released a statement following the passing of Johnny & Matthew on Thursday night.
It's been a tough day for everyone in the hockey community as Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew passed away on Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle while out riding their bicycles.
Tributes have been pouring in from teams across the National Hockey League as well as players too, including a number of Johnny Gaudreau's teammates in Columbus.
Jim Gaudreau, the uncle of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau, released a statement that was posted to social media by Dan Roche of WBZ-TV. In the statement, the family wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and asked for respect and privacy during this difficult time.
"Last night we lost two husbands, two fathers, two sons, two brothers, two sons and brothers in law, two nephews, two cousins, two family members two teammates, two friends but truly two amazing humans.
We want to let everyone know we are receiving your messages of love and support and we appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers. We ask for your continued
respect and privacy during this very difficult period of grief.
From all our families and the bottom of our hearts (the Gaudreau, Morris, Korbitz, Venello and Joyce Families)." Jim Gaudreau said.
Everyone here at Blade of Steel has Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in their thoughts and would like to send their condolences to their family, friends and teammates at this difficult time.
