Both Dylan McIlrath of the Capitals and Arber Xhekaj of the Canadiens have received fines, as well as both NHL organizations for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The National Hockey League announced today that the Department of Player Safety has fined the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals $25,000 each for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The incident in question occurred during warm-ups prior to Game 4 of their First Round series on Sunday, April 27. The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation for future use.
Additionally, the Department of Player Safety has also fined Montreal's Arber Xhekaj $3,385.42 and Washington's Dylan McIlrath $2,018.23, both the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), for unsportsmanlike conduct.
This also occurred during Sunday's warm-ups. The fine money will also go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Capitals now have a 3-1 stranghold series lead

The Washington Capitals defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-2 in Game 4, moving within one win of advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
Tom Wilson's controversial hit on Canadiens defenseman Alexandre Carrier midway through the third period was the turning point.
Wilson talked about the hit after the game in an interview with the "NHL on TNT" panel, emphasizing the intensity of playoff hockey.
"Obviously, playoffs are extremely physical," Wilson said. "They're hitting, we're hitting, you get hit, you give hits.

"Last couple of games, I spent a lot of time in the box. Coming into this one, I just wanted to play between the whistles, play hard."

The hit was more controversial due to how intense this series has been so far, as Sunday's game took place just two days after a chaotic brawl had Wilson and Josh Anderson taking their fight directly into the Capitals bench.
The Capitals will have a chance to close out the Canadiens in Game 5 on Wednesday night in Washington.
