Referee forced to leave the game after being cut by a skate
Throughout the playoffs so far referees have received a bad rap, but now a referee is in the headlines for another reason. During tonight's game 3 between the New York Islanders and Carolina Hurricanes, a referee has suffered what seems to be a significant injury.
As the puck comes into the Carolina zone, Brady Skjei loses his footing and falls skate first into the referee. The play was we immediately blown dead and referee TJ Luxmore immediately left the ice.
Given the playoffs a backup referee was in attendance and replaced Luxemore.
Update:
Luckily though after some repairs and some time Luxmore was able to return to the game.
