Colorado Avalanche trade former first round pick Alex Newhook in a huge deal
The Colorado Avalanche have stated their team is going to look different next season. After Ryan Johansen from the Nashville Predators that was clear. Today the Avalanche made it clear they aren't done.
The Avalanche have officially traded 2019 1st round pick Alex Newhook to the Montreal Canadiens ahead of tomorrow's NHL Draft.
The Canadiens acquire the rights to forward Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Montreal's 31st (previously acquired from Florida) and 37th overall picks in 2023 and defenseman Gianni Fairbrother.
This trade for the Canadiens gives them another young center as the team continues to build age specific depth. Last season with the Avalanche Newhook scored 14 goals and added 16 assists, appearing in all 82 regular season games.
