The 2018 Team Canada World Juniors team has been in the media for all of the wrong reasons. The Gold Medal winning team has been surrounded by controversy since claims arouse against the team. Up until today there has been very little information, but today that changed.

Rick Westhead provided the following information:

Breaking: Five members of the 2018 world junior hockey team have been told to surrender to London, Ont., police to face charges of sexual assault, The Globe and Mail reports, citing unnamed sources.
The Globe reports the players, who have not been charged yet, have been given a set period of time to present themselves at London police headquarters.

At this time no charges have been laid and all players are presumed innocent until proven guilty. This is the first real breakthrough in this longstanding case and will hopefully provide a major resolution to this case.

No names have been released at this time and these players have a specific timeline to turn themselves into police.

London Police provided the following response when asked for comment:

London Police on report that 5 former 2018 WJC team members told to surrender on charges of sexual assault:

"We are unable to provide an update at this time. When there is further information to share regarding this investigation, we will be in contact with media outlets."
