Former San Jose Sharks prospect charged with murder

Over the weekend a former San Jose Sharks prospect found himself in hot water with the law, after an incident which led to the death of a 23-year-old man. Former San Jose Sharks prospect Artem Ivanyuzhenkov has found himself charged in the stabbing death of a young man.

The incident reportedly occurred in the city of Podolsk, where Ivanyuzhenkov was celebrating his birthday with friends. Eye witnesses at the scene have identified Ivanyuzhenkov as the perpetrator, but the player denies the allegations.

Ivanyuzhenkov, 24, signed a contract with the Sharks organization in 2019-2020, but was never able to play more than 2 AHL games with the franchise. After spending the rest of the year in the ECHL, Ivanyuzhenkov left North America for good.

This isn't the first time Ivanyuzhenkov has been accused of something like this. In 2020 he killed a cyclist in the Moscow area. However, Artem is the son of Boris Ivanyuzhenkov, the Deputy Speak of Russian Parliament. Boris was also the Minister of Sports from 2006-2021, a very convenient role for ensuring his son's innocence.
